IF THERE’S ONE THING THAT SUMS UP MY PERSONALITY...

It’s probably this story from my wedding announcement

“After dating for a year, they began a series of in-depth conversations about creating a successful marriage. So in-depth, that Mr. Moore, not wanting to overlook a single topic, put together a 37-page report and conversation guide.”

Erin and I live in Washington, D.C. with our two kids, who are continually charged up.

Thrive Street’s Origin Story

While the majority of my career has been in the business sector and I have an MBA, I’ve never been passionate about business, per se—that is, increasing revenue 15% over the next quarter never made me leap out of bed in the morning.

But I have always been energized by the creativity of building products and building teams, and fascinated with the human system of organizations. I love thinking about: How can human beings collaborate to achieve meaningful goals? And how can leaders facilitate that impact?

The second path of my career has been a deep interest in nonprofits and education, which comes from my values and a desire to give to others. As such, I earned a master’s degree in education at Stanford, and I went on to serve on several nonprofit boards.

Several years ago, I chaired the board of a charter school that was struggling on academics, and in recruiting enough students and teachers to survive and thrive. We thought we might have to close the school. The period leading up to the decision was intense, stressful, and draining, and it often required 20 hours a week on top of my day job.

As I lie awake at night struggling with what to do, two thoughts consistently came back to me:

First, if we’d invested in the capacity of the school’s leaders, we could have prevented the challenges from ever happening.

Second, given the challenges we were facing, our strategic discussions over the previous challenges had missed the mark.

Ultimately, that school remained open. But the insights from that experience led me down a path to founding Thrive Street.

Thrive Street is the convergence of those two paths in my career. It’s all about helping executives build their superpowers and create impactful strategic conversations, with a deep commitment to making these benefits accessible to nonprofit organizations.

Be Generous and Do Good Work

That’s literally the first line of the Thrive Street strategic plan. That vision informs my approach to working with clients—you.

Thrive Street’s values are:

Purpose.

It’s not enough to help leaders get better at their jobs. If done right, our work should help you have a more rewarding and fulfilling life, however you define that.

Impact.

Our work should shake up the real world. Coaching conversations should drive action, yielding real results. Strategic plans should shift budgets and operational decisions. We’re in it with you for that impact—not just to have an enjoyable chat.

Joy.

If we don’t have at least one hearty laugh in every interaction, we’re doing something wrong.

Mission & Impact

When business and nonprofit leaders are more effective, organizations are more effective, and the humans within them are happier. And when nonprofits are more effective, our communities are stronger.

Thrive Street’s mission and our core work is to enable those impacts.

Our business model directly supports that mission in two ways:

First, Thrive Street provides discounted rates for nonprofits to make our services accessible.

Second, Thrive Street donates 20% of revenue from private sector engagements to charities in our community.
